Green and clubbing are not usually two words used in the same sentence but San Francisco’s ‘Temple’ is proof of the contrary. When it comes to great techno, is San Francisco the next Berlin? That’s a question bouncing around inside the beat-focused noggin of DJ/producer/label owner Alland Byallo. Byallo is part of the highly respected [Kontrol] crew, who bring minimal techno and “avant-house” to places like the Endup on a regular basis. He’s hit the decks in cities ranging from Moscow to London and Berlin and has been invited to such prestigious festivals as Decibel, Lovefest, and Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival. He’s warmed up the turntables for such heavies as Superpitcher, Trentemoller, and Modeselektor…but he doesn’t just spin other people’s records. Last month the legendary after-hours club The Endup in San Francisco celebrated its 35th birthday and won 3 categories in the best of 2008 San Francisco city guide website; Citysearch. They won Best Dance Club, Best DJs and Best Outdoor bar! We wish them many more years of decedent partying.

At the head of the label Marine Parade, his Coastal Breaks album brought him recognition the world over. Not one to stick to one genre he has been combining punk, rock, hip hop and electro with his remix of Sarah Vaughan’s fever getting him nominated for a Grammy.
