Kararocké goes live!

ullmann

Here’s something new to look forward to: it’s truly live, it’s rock n’ roll and absolutely anything could happen. Local performer and promoter Nicolas Ullmann has successfully brought his Kararocké concept to Parisian clubs such as Le Baron, Paris Paris and La Flèche d’Or over the past years. Now he’s set to take over Le Régine for a weekly party where the public takes to the stage for a sweaty rockin’ session with a band. Everyone loves a pissed up karaoke but this takes things one step further. Instead of the usual instrumental playback, future pop queens and rock kings can get up there with a live band, test their vocal skills and strut their stuff. This could be a little painful to listen to live, but it could also be the most fun you’ve had for ages before Monday kicks in! Every Sunday, 10pm at Le Régine & live on Awdio.

the espy

‘The Espy’ in St Kilda has been Australia’s premier live music venue since the late 1800’s and was a little worse for wear when it was bought up by nightclub owners Paul Adamo and Vince Sofo in 2001. They gave the place a new lease of life adding a restaurant and different floors all featuring live music. The impressive Gershwin room upstairs hosts main acts and the Front Room (Live on Awdio) has become the place to discover live local talent. Sunday night’s celebrations feature the Sunday residents Headspace, Nudist Funk Orchestra and Bad Boys Batucada. More details on: http://theesplanadehotel.com.au/

sick note

No the 70′s new wave group from Sheffield haven’t made a come back, this is something much better! The excellent live and club named after these new wavers, (or perhaps after the famous café in Zurich which was the inspiration for the pop group) in Edinburgh is now streaming live almost every night on Awdio.com. The program at Cabaret Voltaire is a diverse mish-mash of live concerts early on in the evening and club nights every night of the week.

Every Thursday night it’s ‘Sick Note’ featuring indie and electro carefully selected by local Indie kids Clash! and Spies in the Wires DJs as well as live bands on an indie/rock tip. This is a night where Kate Nash, the Horrors, Spektrum and Jamie T happily rub shoulders (ok not in the flesh but almost…)

On the weekends expect anything from dubstep to shuffle house with a multitude of different club events rotating throughout the month. Listen to Cabaret Voltaire LIVE on Awdio!
