After playing at Rio Summer Festival, a trance music fest in Hungary (yes, you’ve read correctly) and dropping in for a “mental” evening at Cream in Ibiza as he puts it, Chris “Superman” Lake is back in shape for his Brazilian dates. The DJ extraordinaire will be playing 6 nights all around south-American’s largest country. Kicking off in Rio de Janeiro at the King Lounge on the night of 14^th to the 15^th August at 2:30 am (local time), before moving to São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Santos. How time flies, it only seemed like yesterday when Favela Chic launched their London, Shoreditch venue. 3 years later and they are going strong and bringing some Brazilian warmth the East London. To celebrate they have invited all their favorite DJs to come spin an hour each, conducted by resident DJ Gringo da Parada. The party will be bouncing to a soundtrack of samba, bossa nova, electronica, funk, breakbeats, batucada, hip hop, pop, swing… Go join them or you can follow the festivities live on Awdio.com.

Next Tuesday (24th Feb) it’s Mardi Gras and that means Carnival time in Brazil. The incredible Rio Carnival takes over the city on Friday with the lovely feather clad Samba dancers, Brazil is so famous for, shimmying non stop until the big day on Tuesday. Big players on the club scene will also be in Rio this weekend for the annual Rio Music Conference, featuring workshops and events demonstrating that it’s not all Samba and Bossa in Brazil as the electronic music scene is also very much alive and kicking. Some of the Awdio crew will be present, so just follow the stickers! Awdio listeners can also enjoy Carnival sounds live from Sonotheque (Fri 20th), Drom’s Mardi Gras Special with Isle of Klezbos & Sanda Weigl (24th) and a Fellini themed Carnival party at Favela Chic Paris (24th) and Favela Chic London (25th).
