On the first Sunday of every month (5th April) Bar Vinyl (London) invites the public to come armed with their parent’s dusty old records. This stems from the growing success of BYO nights (bring your own) where people can play their own selection of music and become a DJ for 15mins of fame. This event takes the concept one step further for those for those who don’t possess any vinyl of their own, they can simply beg, steal or borrow… their parent’s treasured collection. Listen to this live on Awdio.
Jalapeno Records started as a vehicle for the releases by the duo Skeewiff and has grown into a genre-defying label covering all sorts of funky sounds. Artists now include Kraak & Smaak, Ikon, All Good Funk Alliance and Flash Callahan. As well as organizing their own events, they also spin together as The Jalepeno Sound System at venues all over London such as The Big Chill Bar, Cargo and this Tuesday night at Bar Vinyl. Listen to their funky feel-good sounds live from 8pm on Awdio.com. See the video
Last weekend no less than 4 new venues were connected to the Awdio platform from London. It’s about time that we’ll be able to listen to the fresh sounds from the big smoke. You can cross the whole city and do a tour of London’s underground stopping in central London’s Piccadilly Circus for Bar Rumba, at Old Street for T-Bar, Camden Town for Bar Vinyl and Brixton for The Dogstar!

Bar Vinyl - Camden has become the tourist pit-stop for wacky clothes and the London look, but just out of the way is the record shop and bar Bar Vinyl where locals hang out on the weekends. Their website’s a bit out of date but we tuned in on Sunday afternoon and it sounded like an after-party was in full swing with minimal beats galore!
The Dogstar is Brixton’s most famous Dj bar serving Mexican food and distinctly British sounds. Live bands and DJs from all over come spin in the South. Disastronaut (previously interviewed here) has a Friday residency doing it doggy style apparently…

Here’s a song about the perils of the London Underground by Alan Heath
Café d’AnversAntwerp, Local Time: 23.00 Listen! Josh Wink, Bartholomeo, Patrick Schmidt Style: House
Philly based DJ and Producer Josh Wink brought back the sound of acid house back in 1995 with his still very play listed track ‘Higher State of Consciousness’, which has remained a must-have record in any self-respecting Dj’s box. Not to mention ‘Don’t Laugh’ (it’s the track with a contagious loop of someone laughing over a techno beat) which has also remained a classic. He now runs his own label Ovum Records with King Britt.

Coming up are some pretty impressive clubs and bars in the UK. Glasgow’s Subclub will be broadcasting their unique forward thinking events featuring people like Benga and Mr Mafro from the dubstep front and JD Twitch and JG Wilkes’ famous Optimo nights.
And much further down South in London; T Bar, Bar Vinyl and the spanking new East Village will all be going live.
This week Awdio will be connecting 8 venues in Ibiza so that even if you can’t make it to the party island this summer you can use your wifi connection in your back yard, get yourself a paddling pool and imagine those magical Balearic sunsets. Ok it’s not quite the same thing but hey it just takes a little imagination, a nice cold drink and some great music to do some deckchair traveling.
Check out the lounge and abstract sounds of Km5, live concerts and traditional music from Teatro Pereyra and straight up pre-club sounds from Kanya Beach and Guarana Café
