Juke Baritone’s dog crazy

Take murky vibes, provocative lyrics, a banjo, sax, and Kazoo, add that to crushed velvet, and leather boots and you’ve got Juke Baritone and the Swamp Dogs. It’s not like anything you’ve ever seen or heard before. A term used all too often, but trust us on this one. As they tour around the UK and Australia, they ravage the innocence of each crowd they meet. I’ve even heard some people leave their shows crying (of pleasure of course)! It’s not just controversial and provocative, it’s a true message; a man and his music trying to change the people one show at a time. Read More
So who is this doughty modern day hero? Juke Baritone is none other than Brett Maverix a Sydney based, Canadian born producer/muso/dj/writer/composer. His musical panel ranges from black to white: folk, blues, country, jazz ballads, polkas, waltzes, cabaret, swing, popular ballads, and his very own genre which is too unique to name. If you’ve ever heard Juke Baritone, you’d agree he has a very atypical voice. It’s been described as resembling that of Tom Waits “like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car” (critic Daniel Durchholz). His attitude and sandy vocals make him seem like a honky-tonk fugitive from the époque of the bohemian revolution. Baritone really brings to the act his imagination and personality. Although based in Australia, the band gathers influences from dirty, bluesy Louisiana, naughty and crude rock from the deep south of America, and retro-punk from New South Wales. Juke Baritone, is a complete artist, and is not to be missed performing at Dogstar in Brixton London with his Swamp Dogs on the 9th of July and live on Awdio.com.
