In Bed With Fred Jungo

Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Fred Jungo, i am Bed Supperclub’s Entertainment Director and Head dj.
How did you end up at Bed?
I arrived in Thailand in 2002 and i was intensively playing in almost any venue that would let me play. One of the Mastermind of what would be Bed Supperclub came to listen to one of my dj set and offered me the job as the weekend resident dj at Bed since the opening in september 2002.
How would you describe the Bangkok club scene?
Active, compared to the crowd in most of the clubs in South-east Asia, Thai crowd, and especially Bangkok crowd is full of energy and will instantly dance if you know how to touch their soul, no warm-up required.
Who comes to Bed?
Expats, High-so Thais and tourists; no backpackers.
What kind of music can we hear at Bed?
Each day is different, because we have two rooms, we always have one room for alternative music style such as hip-hop, Indie Rock, Salsa… but we make sure that everyday we provide “electronic” music in one of the two rooms (House, Electro, Tech-house, minimal or progressive house).
What 5 tracks best represent the musical vibe at Bed?
I can only speak for myself here, so, at the moment pick any track from Axwell, Prydz or Laidback Luke and you will be close to the weekend vibe at Bed.
What has been your most memorable moment at Bed?
Bed anniversary I, II, III, IV and V and surely VI (in October 2008) because each of those parties were maybe the best parties of the year in Bangkok.
Is there a moment at Bed that you would rather forget?
Some Dj auditions. For example, one guy looked totally awesome on paper and when i asked him to play an hour live for me it was like if i asked one of Bed maids to deejay. It gets really tricky because sometimes the cd that they give me is great, so i always have to ask them to come for a live audition and that’s when i realize that they have probably been helped by a computer to mix their cd.
Who are the local Thai Djs or producers that we should be looking out for and why?
Dj Ben, he is playing downtempo, broken beat and new jazz in the white room at Bed and he is holding a Jazz radio show daily. He is a musical Genius and he should be as famous as Gilles Peterson.
What club or venue would you like to be able to hear on Awdio and why?
Pacha Ibiza of course
Who would you most like to take to Bed?
Eric Prydz, Erick Morillo and Roger Sanchez

Pattaya cinema halls are decorated in Thai style and have incorporated advanced music arrangements. They like to play films loud and keep air-conditioning in powerful mode. The entire temperature inside probably the cinema halls is quite cold.
