Are you for or against live streaming and broadcasting of DJ sets and concerts from clubs or concert venues over the internet and why ?
The steaming and broadcasting of concerts/DJ sets is an interesting tool for live broadcasting. Streaming creates accessibility for everyone up to a point, (providing) moments that until recent years only specific countries could benefit from. Concerts up until now weren’t broadcast or weren’t produced all over the world. Have Public Enemy ever played in Dakar? Laurent Garnier in Mali or Uzbekistan? Sebastien Tellier in Mauritania?
Internet streaming doesn’t solve the lack of service in some continents but it creates the illusion and allows broadcasting, thus allowing wider accessibility (the hardware, streaming and censorship problems remain).
Record labels have certainly lost exclusivity with broadcasting but the artists have gained an audience.
These tools also have their limits and have created new ways for music and new media consumption. We consume, we download, we ‘gobble up’ music..Hard drives are stuffed without necessarily being listened to. If streaming is for immediate listening and not for downloading, it is a useful tool.
Le streaming et la diffusion des concerts/dj sets restent des outils de diffusion d instantanés interessants.
Le streaming permet l accessibilité à tous, dans une certaine mesure, d instants pour lesquels jusqu à il y encore quelques années, seul certains pays pouvaient en beneficier.Les concerts n etaient jusque là pas diffusés ou n etaient pas produits sur toute la planete.Est ce que Public Enemy ont deja joué à Dakar ? Laurent Garnier au Mali ou en Ouzbekistan ? Sebastien Tellier en Mauretanie ?…
Le streaming ou le flux Internet ne resoud pas le defaut de prestation sur certains continents mais il en donne l illusion et permet de diffuser, donc d etre accessible à presque tous ( il reste le probleme du materiel, du flux internet et de sa censure ).
Les maisons de disques ont certes perdue une exclusivité dans la diffusion mais les artistes y ont gagné en audience. Ces outils ont aussi revelé leurs limites et crée des modes de consommation de la musique et de la culture nouveaux : ” l’ over consommation”. On consomme, on telecharge, on ” bouffe ” la musique…les disques durs debordent sans pour autant etre ecoutés. Si le Streaming reste de l ecoute immediate et non telechargeable il restera un outil utile.
